Waterworks & Sewer Systems

Picciola & Associates, Inc. completes successful municipal Waterworks Projects and upgrades, working with the Lafourche Parish Water District No. 1 on various initiatives. Recent projects include the installation of an 18-inch waterline along LA Hwy. 1 in Larose, LA, and a 500,000-gallon water storage tank in Larose, LA. Our team also specializes in sewer system upgrades for municipalities and developing new systems for subdivisions and commercial developments.

Drainage Work

For decades, Picciola & Associates, Inc. has played a vital role in improving drainage systems in Lafourche Parish. Our past projects encompassed forced drainage in subdivisions with inadequate systems, levee system upgrades, and fixes for pumping stations. Notable projects, such as Galliano and Lockport Heights Forced Drainage, focused on resolving chronic flooding issues by replacing and improving drainage structures. We also completed the T-Bios Drainage system project, which involved the installation of a new pump station and miles of levee. Additionally, we have contributed to the South Lafourche Levee District Hurricane Protection Levee System, providing plan development, project management, and inspections for levee upgrades and pump station projects.

Coastal Restoration

We are deeply engaged in coastal restoration, mitigation, and permitting for both state agencies and private organizations. Our firm has led significant barrier island restoration projects for the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, constructing hundreds of acres of barrier islands in challenging coastal environments. Some projects required hydraulic dredging from a distant borrow pit area. We have also secured wetland permits for government agencies and private entities in response to activities near wetland-delineated areas. Our services encompass plan development, location survey, permitting, project management, and onsite inspection.

Road & Bridge Work

Our team has led Lafourche Parish’s most extensive roadway improvement program, overseeing management and engineering services for the Lafourche Parish Council. This comprehensive initiative encompassed numerous miles of street and drainage enhancements. Additionally, our firm has contributed to highway and bridge projects in Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes and the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development. Our involvement includes:

Dredging

Picciola & Associates, Inc. has extensive experience in dredging projects, including maintenance and virgin dredging of ship channels, commercial marinas, dock slips, and borrow areas for coastal restoration. Our involvement spans from initial hydrographic surveying and permitting to construction plan development, project management, and onsite inspection. Notable projects include maintenance dredging of Bell Pass, the Greater Lafourche Port Commission Northern Expansion, and virgin dredging for Waterfront and Marina development initiatives.

Port Work

Since the inception of the Greater Lafourche Port Commission (GLPC) and Port Fourchon in 1960, Picciola & Associates, Inc. has played a pivotal role in their development. We have completed various projects with the GLPC, including site development for loading dock facilities, bulkheads, crane pads, tank foundations, buildings, and intermodal roadways. Our involvement encompasses design, management, inspection, and acquiring necessary permits for expansion projects. Additionally, we have actively contributed to the commercial development of offshore oil service companies at the GLPC’s Fourchon Facility, providing comprehensive services from conceptual design to construction management. We have also been extensively involved in development projects at the GLPC’s South Lafourche Leonard Miller Jr. Airport in Galliano, overseeing the design and construction management of taxiways, hangars, maintenance facilities, offices, bunkhouses, and terminal buildings for clients such as ERA Aviation, Cougar Helicopters, and VIH Helicopters, USA.
